Embroidered Raptor Pieces.

 Bert The Raptor

Bert was the first dinosaur I embroidered, I enjoyed making him I used the fish bone stitch for his feathers and lots of French knots for his face. I really like how the gradient effect came out on this piece.

Richard The Rainbow Raptor

Richard is one of my all time favourite raptor pieces. He brings together all the things I love, texture with the French knots, colour, 3D embroidery with the stumpwork feathers, and of course dinosaurs.

Gemma The Gemstone Raptor

Gemma is a little larger than Richard I like how her feathers come off of the hoop a little bit I think it makes her look more alive. Details on her face and her feathers have been stitched using metallic embroidery floss.

Benny The Birthday Raptor

Benny was inspired by one of my favourite embroidery flosses, it just reminded me of cake with sprinkles so I went with it and Benny was born. Some of his feathers are lit birthday candles, and he has layers of raspberry jam and butter cream in-between his cake layers. Please don't eat him.

Andromeda The Space Raptor

Andromeda is made of  lots of French knots she also has stumpwork feathers. The Background fabric was hand painted with fabric paint by me. The small white stars on Andromeda glow in the dark and her feathers has a silver outline.

Ross The Neon Rainbow Raptor

When I was designing Ross I wanted to stitch another rainbow raptor (because rainbows are my favourite), but this time I wanted the cooler colours to be prominent. The floss I used is from an Indie dyer  What mustard Made I love the slight variation in the colours. For Rosses feathers I used hand painted felt.

Baby Richard The Rainbow Raptor

I made Baby Richard around Easter time. I wanted to do something sort of on theme for Easter, so a dinosaur in an egg seemed like a good idea. For the egg I used felt with various layers of fabric paint and fabric glue to get a leathery look. Baby Richard is again made of tiny French knots and was stitched and then cut out and finished so he looks a little 3D on the final piece.
